This week, Drew Altman from the Kaiser Family Foundation reported on Axios that 38% of 18–44-year-olds use a smartphone app or the internet to fill prescriptions. The 45+ age bracket was even a bit higher at 40%. (Get the detailed report.)

Altman aims to explore what is “hype” and what is reality when it comes to health tech usage. To us, the averaged total 39% of those who use an app or the internet to fill prescriptions represents the reality that e-commerce has firmly taken root in the pharmaceutical experience. Patients are already benefiting from it.

And we’re here to support them. Patients can use the Blink Health app or website to pay for their prescription medications online and pick them up at a local pharmacy, or get them delivered for free. Using technology to save time and money is a reality people won’t want to give up once they’ve tried it.

We’re calling it! Next year’s report will show these numbers inching even higher.
