Auction
We have decided to put the .zil auction on hold for the time being.
The reason for this decision is due to limited access to ZIL currency in the United States. The auction will be on chain. This means ZIL is the only currency that can be used as the auction smart contracts will be deployed on the Zilliqa blockchain. Our top priority for the auction is to make sure we can offer a fair experience for every user. To ensure this, every user would need easy access to purchase ZIL in order to place. Unfortunately, this is not the case right now. We anticipate that access to ZIL and other native ZIL assets will increase in the coming months.
At this time, we do not have a set date for the .zil auction. The auction will be put on hold until access to zil becomes easier for all of our users.
New Domain Extension
We will be making an announcement about our next domain extension on October 11th PST. Stay tuned!
Domain Credits:
As mentioned in our New Domain Extension Policy, .zil owners will receive $1 to $1 credits for every purchase they make. This means for every $1 you spend on .zil domains, you will receive $1 in credits towards the next domain extension. This $1 to $1 credit program will end October 21st. After October 21st, users will no longer receive $1 to $1 credits for their .zil purchases towards the next extension.
Right of First Refusal:
Any domain you purchase on or before October 21st gives you the right of first refusal for the same domain on our newest domain extension. Any domains purchased after October 21st, will no longer receive a right of first refusal for the same domain on the new extension.
This means there will be a period of time where only you can purchase the domain names you have on .zil for our next extension. We will announce this period in advance.
Price Increase:
Now that the auction has been postponed, we wanted to inform the community that standard .zil domains will increase in price on October 11th PST from $10 to $20. Premium domain prices will not change.
