Imagine yourself on a free day. What are you thinking of doing? Going out with some friends or family, catching a movie, or shopping at malls? All of that sounds fun, but eating at a great place is often what starts a great night.

So no matter the occasion, first date, prom night, a hangout, or a catchup with friends, dining out at restaurant makes for an starting place to meet. And what’s better than eating some good food with a couple of great friends?

The City of Murfreesboro offers a rich variety of eateries that can suffice for your craving of a new experience. So follow this guide if you’d like to get of taste of what’s in the Boro.

City Café in the daytime

First, the City Café is at the beginning of this list simply because of its fresh, homemade, quality food. The City Café also has been in the Boro dating back to the 1900s (eventually expending to a second location in Franklin). You can get anything you could imagine in a diner setting, from fresh biscuits to chicken tenders to cheeseburgers. But the environment is just as good with the family-owned business giving warm welcomes to dining customers. The Southern feel makes for a popular location for tourists as well as people who have been in Murfreesboro their whole live.

Demos’ in the daytime

Next, the original first Demos’ in Murfreesboro would be our next stop. I would go to this restaurant after any event, a band performance and even prom. Their alfredo fettucine is killer for pasta lovers. Demos’ offers anything from steak to soup to pasta and chicken, and the price is just as good as the food. The chicken and rice soup is my personal favorite, take one of the freshly baked rolls and dip it in. You won’t regret it.

Cookout in the afternoon

If you are looking for something fast, the only fast food place I could recommend is Cook Out. A popular destination for starving college students, Cook Out is sort of a social joint with inexpensive food that tastes better than the price. Unique to their style, they serve Cheerwine soda as a fountain drink, attracting soda enthusiasts as well. You won’t find the quality of the last two restaurants, but what you will find here is a surprising bang for your buck, and the food is not half that bad.

Interior of Toot’s

Looking for a family-friendly restaurant? Toot’s has you covered. If you want wings, Toot’s has that. Fried pickles? Yes please. Need a gourmet burger? Toot’s will serve you that. The best part, if you have little children, they always eat free. Fun is the best word that can describe the atmosphere of this place. There are two locations in Murfreesboro, one in Smyrna, so there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t try it.

Gyro Tabouli menu (Source: TripAdvisor)

The last place to recommend is Gyro Tabouli off Old Fort. The customer service is insane, most places try to be friendly, but Gyro Tabouli makes you feel like a neighbor or family. Not only that, but the food is just as great. Many describe it as the freshest gyro in the middle Tennessee area, making not only for a delicious meal, but a memorable one as well.

So don’t be afraid to try new restaurants. Some like change, some don’t. But I promise that this list of restaurants won’t disappoint.

If you’re looking for more information on the best restaurants in Murfreesboro or the middle Tennessee area, I recommend going to TripAdvisor to look for great restaurants around you.
