The DNC’s lawyers subpoena WikiLeaks with a tweet
A law firm representing the Democratic National Convention served legal documents formally notifying WikiLeaks that it is being sued… via a tweet.
The lawsuit also names a list of other private people and organizations, that worked together to sway the 2016 election in Trump’s favor, according to DNC. This is not the first time that social media has been used to serve legal documents (Facebook have already been used for the same purpose before).
Netflix CFO David Wells to step down
On August 13, Netflix announced its CFO, David Wells, would be stepping down from his position after helping the company choose his successor. Wells has been with Netflix for the last 14 years, and has served as its CFO since 2010.
“It’s been 14 wonderful years at Netflix, and I’m very proud of everything we’ve accomplished,”
Wells said, in a statement about his plans.
“Personally, I intend my next chapter to focus more on philanthropy and I like big challenges, but I’m not sure yet what that looks like.”
Tinder founders sue Match and IAC for at least $2B
According to Tinder’s suit, IAC and Match Group manipulated financial data to create “a fake lowball valuation,” then stripped Tinder’s founders of their stock options.
The alleges go even further. Tinder claims that the Match CEO, Greg Blatt, who became CEO at Tinder, sexually harassed an executive at the company’s 2016 holiday party.
“Sour grapes alone do not a lawsuit make.”

Y Combinator is launching a startup program in China
The accelerator announced the hiring of former Microsoft executive Qi Lu. He will develop a standalone startup program on the Chinese market.
Sam Altman, YC President, told TechCrunch in an interview that the program will be based in Beijing.
HHS seeks an app for better collection of patient-reported healthcare outcomes
The Department of Health and Human Service’s Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) need an app that would let patients easily share health outcomes in a streamlined way.
The challenge will run in three stages. The first one — a proposal phase — is due by Sept 24. On this stage, participants must give a technical and business overview of their proposed solution.
The Alexa-Cortana integration is now available in a public preview
The integration was previously announced and demoed on-stage in May. But it was only yesterday when Microsoft began to allow Alexa device owners to summon Cortana through their Echo devices, and call for Alexa via Cortana.
Intel’s 9th generation processors to be launched in October
This year’s version will be based on improvements to the existing 14nm process. If the October 1st date is accurate, then we’ll probably see these processors in a variety of machines later this year.
