A Crypto Token for Charitable Donations

A key goal would to make it super easy to make micro-donations governed by smart contracts. The holder of the tokens could make many tiny donations to many different charitable causes, without needing go through a credit card transaction each time. For this to work, making a donation needs to be as simple as sharing on social media, or linking a piece of content.

Ideally this would also enable, automatically recurring donations, with token transfers powered by smart contracts, making it very easy to agree to donate 25 cents per day, 2 dollars per month, etc.

An interesting sub-idea is a concept that each donation made would trigger the granting of additional tokens to other individuals, either determined by the donator or to a shared pool. Not sure how (or if) this could work, but the goal is to incentivize others to use the tokens to make charitable donations.

Perhaps the biggest challenge is convincing people to buy tokens in the first place. ICOs are currently though of as money-making opportunities, with hope/expectation that the tokens will in increase in value thereafter. But what if the token is designed to be given away? Could wealthy individuals be convinced to seed the token, which could then be granted to individuals, perhaps on a matching basis? More questions than answers on this aspect…
