You Said…

We were destined to meet.

Regardless of the span of the millennia

Our souls would find each other

Again and again

We had a timeless connection

I was the one

I made you feel truly alive

You felt whole again just being near me

You didn’t know what it was about me

Except when you looked into my eyes

You saw your soul smiling back at you

“There is nothing more painful than grieving someone who’s still living.”

~ Rupi Kaur

You are gone now

I no longer get lost in your eyes

Are we to meet again, as you said

In this lifetime

In the next lifetime

If this is destiny

I can take no more of its cruelty

There is a dark space where my heart used to be

A lonely and bleeding void I cannot fill

Just to hold you in my arms

Once more in this lifetime

Is everything I could ever want for
