A Liberal Woman Walks Into a Conservative Wedding

…and it doesn’t go well

The nuptuals took place in a more remote and conservative town, about an hour’s drive away from my suburban home. The bride was the daughter of one of my husband’s lifelong friends.

Most of the attendees were strangers to me, commodity farmers with thousands of acres, growing mostly wheat which they export to Asia…
