UP President Danilo Concepcion released a memorandum yesterday stating that no “tuition and other school fees” will be collected from students in the entire UP System this semester, superseding all previous issuances including his own released last week.
The memorandum stated that no fees will be collected from undergraduate students except from those who have already completed a bachelor’s degree, failed to comply with retention policies or failed to graduate on time.
The same memo stated that students in the Law and Medicine track may apply for subsidy through the Socialized Tuition (ST) System while graduate students were told to apply for a scholarship. Law, Medicine, and graduate students are not exempt from paying tuition this semester.
Students are now encouraged to complete the final step of enrollment, assessment, where their tuition and other school fees assessment will automatically be set to zero.
Those who have already been assessed can undergo reassessment while those who have already paid must wait for the refunding process, the guidelines of which are yet to be released.
