Durant: Still Talking
The latest inflammatory comments

Because Kevin Durant just can’t seem to stop talking, here we are again. In some bizarre comments from Monday, KD really made it seem like his mind was made up early in the summer. Very early. Like… Game 7 of the NBA Finals early.
“My agent, Rich Kleiman, we were watching Game 7. Well, as it started to unfold, it was, ‘No question, no way could you go to this team.’ And I was just like a kid, like, ‘I’d really like playing with these guys. I’d get wide-open threes, I could just run up and down the court, get wide-open layups.’ I was basically begging him. I was like, ‘Yo, this would be nice.’
Durant, for some reason, continued:
“As they lost, it became more and more real every day. You start to think about it even more. To see if I would fit. Then once I sat down with these guys, everything that I wanted to know about them, they kinda showed me. But we don’t have to talk about [what would have happened if the Warriors had won the title], because they didn’t get the job done and they came after me.
I guess you could say I’m glad that they lost.”
So that pretty much says everything, right? Durant was apparently begging to join the Warriors before the NBA season had even ended, so it makes all of June/early July seem like a lot of unnecessary stress/drama. Because, hey, wide open threes and layups, man. That’s what it’s all about.

I have no idea how I’ll feel about all of this 5, 10 years from now, but at this exact moment…it just really feels like time to stop talking about the failed marriage between Kevin Durant and the Thunder. And listen — I get it. He’s going to get asked questions, and he’s going to answer some of them. That’s part of it. But silence is always an option, and I know this because I’ve seen Russell Westbrook go an entire interview without saying anything but “Execution.”
In the end, what’s done is done and it’s time to move on. That’s proven to be difficult when wounds are constantly being re-opened, but we’re less than three weeks from Westbrook’s Revenge Tour, and that’s exactly where we should be focusing our energy.
