jnAnam — understanding in itself
beyond the known and unknown
Having taught the very being is the true knowledge and there is no different knowing-self to know the being-self in last verse (from a point of view of sat — existence), the same is being highlighted in the verse 27 from the knowledge point of view (cit).
The best possible definition of jnAnam is given as follows in upadesa saram:
jnAnamajnAnambu lEni bOdhambe jnAnameRuguTa kEdEniyu lEdu
jnAna varjitA, ajnAna hIna cit jnAnam; asti kim jnAtum antaram?
Having given up all the notions of “I know this” (which is generally called as knowledge) and “I do not know this” (which is generally refereed as ignorance) the true basis of understanding (without any recorded images on it) is the true knowledge without known and unknown. There is nothing exists beyond it to know. ( What else is there to know? — in Sanskrit)
Giving up all that is known is called freedom from the known. All objective knowledge which changes every moment and no one really knows weather that knowledge is still valid or not is not really the knowledge! Having given up all that is known is not embracing the ignorance of nothing i.e., SUnya; emptiness. It is the infinite fullness of freedom. The original jnAna beyond all the limitation imposed by known and unknown.
