You already have what it takes to make it. Most of us fail to realise how many valuable skills we’ve gained through our professional and life experiences. By understanding our underlying skills, abilities and passions, we can shape and take control of our own career path — without expensive MBA programs or reeducation.

We're told by others and ourselves that we don't have the right skill-set for a particular new job, career change or promotion. In reality, it's as simple as 70–20–10 (we've all heard this one). 70% of a person's learning at work is internal and experience-based, 20% comes from interacting with fellow employees and 10% is the result of formal training and reading.

A few years ago, I was desperately seeking a change in my career. I'd worked in media and PR but always felt like I was wasting my time on the wrong path. I enjoyed the work I did, but wanted to get closer to driving actual business results and growth. I attended MBA recruitment fairs and started preparing for the GMAT exam, believing that this was what it would take for me to take the next leap. As I did the math — GMAT, MBA fees, time — I realised that this would require a serious investment. What if I could make the career change happen without this expense?

This is when I developed the method behind Upcrush, which helps people tap into each valuable learning experience throughout their career and realise: they are applicable to most jobs. Within a few months, I had been hired as a Business Analyst with an MNC, a role that propelled my career in ways I would never have imagined. Today, I'm a VC-backed startup founder running a B2B SaaS platform for e-commerce. Getting where I am today started with this Business Analyst role.

The solution is obvious but overlooked. If 70% of what you need to be able to do a job, and only 10% can be studied, the premise that an MBA is required to shift into a new role is completely false.

The Upcrush coaching methodology is tried and tested. Our model works well for people looking for a positive transition within business and professional life. Following our process, which combines coaching with a few simple methods, will give you the promotion, career change and confidence to go after your true goals. I'm not saying it will be easy. It will be intense. It will challenge you to break down beliefs about yourself and create new beliefs that you learn to internalise and project into the world.
