Solving Chronic Hypothyroid Disease
Thyroid hormones regulate the body’s metabolism. The hypothyroid disease may occur as very stressful events pop into someone’s life. Chemical exposure and food toxins may also create thyroid and endocrine disorders. Nuclear radiation exposure causes extreme endocrine disruption and harms the thyroid. Nuclear environmental disasters, cancer radiation, long-term exposure to dental X-ray machines, and leaking nuclear power plants cause harmful levels of radioactivity which negatively impact the thyroid. Treating hypothyroid disease is often a long-term challenge.
Bio-identical hormones are the best way to treat low thyroid disease, along with dietary changes to support increased gland function. These include adding more protein, nori, kelp, and avoiding high levels of green vegetable which increase indole levels. The Linus Pauling Institute recommends avoiding cruciferous vegetables including broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collard greens, horseradish, kale, kohlrabi, mustard greens, radish, rutabaga, and turnip. Yoga and other forms of regular exercise reduce stress and balance hormones.
Common symptoms include feeling cold, sleeping longer, gaining weight, missing the outer edge of eyebrows, hair loss, cold hands or feet, weakness, fatigue, low energy, dry skin, premature skin aging, infertility, low libido, repetitive sinus infections, and depression. Less known symptoms include early menopause due to low levels of several hormones.
Lower levels of progesterone and thyroid may stem from a damaged pituitary gland. Reduced hormones levels accelerate aging in many areas of the body and brain. As hormones fall out of the proper healthy range, other hormones become out-of-ratio. This cascade eventually impairs brain neurotransmitters. Depression is this part of the hormone equation.
Gout in the toe joint and other joints is another disease linked caused by low thyroid. Anyone with unmanageable gout which does not respond to medical treatment and dietary changes should be given a full hormone panel test.
