Autumn has 왔담

While trying to come up with a funny rhyming title for this blog, I thought I had figured it out perfectly until I tried to write it down and then realized it was half Korean, and a bad play on Korean at that. For the sake of sleep I’ll leave it. Autumn has come!

Monday morning was rough after a busy weekend, but the trees were beautiful!

So many colors. The trunks are dressed for winter in their straw skirts. I definitely couldn’t survive wearing a straw skirt in winter, but to each their own.

I had some delicious ddeok mandu soup that warmed my soul.

That evening I got jjimdalk with a friend and had a good conversation about life.

Tuesday was internship day. One particular class of sixth graders oohs and aahs after everything I say. The teacher and a couple students did these cute drawings of me. Also, their cafeteria food is so good!

I could feel the sniffles coming, and sure enough, I’d caught a cold. Ddeok mandu soup and a vitamin C drink to the rescue!

Wednesday my cold was get worse, so I made sure to keep taking two giant pills after each meal.

I was so happy to return to Incheon after being gone for so long. I needed to recoup after two weeks of socializing, gloads of walking, and then catching a cold. DoHun’s mom made me pumpkin porridge, and DoHun’s company always brings me joy. He got out on Thursday for vacation.

Before meeting up with some of DoHun’s church friends, we had a little time and sang a few songs at the coin karaoke. I have donned my glasses in preparation for my LASIK surgery next Tuesday. Fear not, we scheduled for a very good doctor :)

DoHun’s friends picked us up and we went to Wolmido. We rode the Viking (less vision=less fear) and then DoHun played in the batting range. Then we paired up for the BB gun game. We barely lost to his friends; DoHun’s shooting skills were not enough to make up for my lacka-shooting skills ;) As such, we had to buy a treat for everyone!

We went to Chinatown and bought a bunch of hongdubyeong, which are these really delicious pancake things filled with different flavors. I love the chocolate ones!

Next we went to his friends’ house where their mom made a giant home-cooked meal of spicy gopchang (intestine) and other food. Lastly, we went bowling. It seems I grew out of my childhood bowling skills…I was happy to hit one pin 😂

Friday was a rest day for sick me and an early morning for DoHun since he had an appointment at the hospital. That evening, we went shopping with DoHun’s mom and she gifted me with some fall clothes 🥰

She also made me some delicious beef rice soup to help me recover.

On Saturday, DoHun and I left home early for our photo shoot in Gangnam. We decided we wanted something a little fancier than DoHun’s drawing for our invitations, and now is the best time to do it before we are separated again for seven months or so.

We booked a package that included hair and makeup, so that took a couple hours before our 6:30 shoot. DoHun took good care of me since I couldn’t wear my glasses the whole time and can speak little Korean.

DoHun’s hair looks pretty long, huh? He got permission to grower it out for the last talk weeks because of the photo shoot.

Although our shoot started a bit late, the people were very nice and the photographer did a great job helping us feel more comfortable. We had fun in between the awkwardness haha.

Post-photo shoot! We felt much better after it was all over and there was nothing left to stress about!

For dinner we went to a nearby Japanese place and got okonomiyaki, which I wanted to try in Japan but didn’t have the chance to. It was full of veggies and shrimp and quite yummy.

Today the air was very bad, so we donned our masks on the way to and from church.

For dinner we had chicken with DoHun’s mom and then she made musubi~

DoHun and his parents dropped me off at the school tonight. Tomorrow I’m meeting up with DoHun again in Suwon and we will go back to Incheon together since my surgery is on Tuesday. Can’t wait to be with DoHun again ~~

I hope everyone a had a happy Halloween! I love you all! Remember Heavenly Father loves you! Have faith and press forward!
