The stories we’ve been loving, laughing and cringing about over the past seven days.

It’s been a good week for …

The Thai cave boys

After spending 17 days trapped in a cave in northern Thailand, all 12 boys and their football coach were rescued safely.

In what was dubbed a ‘mission impossible’, the 13 were guided out by a team of divers, including some from the UK, in a rescue operation which took three days.

The coach was the weakest as he reportedly refused to eat any food, instead giving it to the boys, aged between 11 and 17.

While the team recover in hospital, there’s talk of their ordeal and incredible rescue being turned into a Hollywood film.

It seems the boys are already getting back to their old selves, as they released a video saying what food they are most looking forward to eating when they finally go home — and KFC topped the list! 🐔

The Brit who won the EuroMillions jackpot

We don’t know who it is yet — or if their identity will ever be revealed — but one lucky Brit won a cool £58 million this week.

As we write, the search is still on for the lucky EuroMillions winner — and Camelot said they have “plenty of champagne on ice”.

So, have you checked your ticket?! 👀

The ‘miracle’ pony of the Japan floods

It was feared miniature pony, Leaf, had drowned in floods which have hit Japan.

But somehow she survived and was found stuck on a roof — much to the joy of her owners.

It’s still unclear how the pony got there, as locals insist water levels never reached that high. Could it be a pony miracle? 🦄

It’s been a bad week for …

England’s World Cup dreams

England’s World Cup dreams came to an end on Wednesday when they lost to Croatia.

Then in the third place play-off on Saturday, Belgium won 2–0.

So they ended up coming fourth. But who actually thought they’d get that far?! Lads, you did England proud!

The Three Lions may not have won, but Harry Kane still scooped the World Cup Golden Boot after scoring six goals — making him the first Englishman to do so since Gary Lineker in 1986 — so it’s not all bad news…

Donald Trump

Donald Trump arrived in the UK this week in his first official visit as US president — but he didn’t exactly receive a warm welcome.

Thousands of Brits took to the streets in protest holding signs such as ‘in England Trump means fart’, ‘feed him to the corgis’, and ‘you’re worse than Morrissey’.

The Trump Baby Blimp balloon also took to the skies in London and Edinburgh.

Defiant as ever, Trump waved at protesters in Scotland who demonstrated outside the golf courses he owns.

These French policemen

It was certainly an oops moment! Credit: Getty Images

The one thing you don’t want to do when you’re representing your country is muck it up.

Sadly, for these two French policemen that’s exactly what happened.

The pair were taking part in the Bastille Day Parade in Paris when their motorbikes crashed into each other — as President Emmanuel Macron and a few thousand people looked on.

And that wasn’t the only thing to go wrong. One of the jets then released the wrong colour smoke giving the French flag an extra line of blue. Oops! Red faces all round 😳
