The Premier League returns after an international break that saw England conquer Spain in Seville. The headline fixture of the weekend sees Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United head to Maurizio Sarri’s rejuvenated Chelsea side. After last week’s thrills and spills the Champions Cup rolls onto week two, Lewis Hamilton could secure the driver’s championship at the US Grand Prix and the NBA is back on Sky Sports.

The week off will have given Mourinho some much needed respite from the media glare, but it will kick into full gear again as he returns to his old side Chelsea.

The under pressure Manchester United manager really needs a win after a number of poor results, while in-form Chelsea will be looking to continue their bright start to the season under new boss Sarri.

It is difficult to see how a leaky United defence is going to cope with a sparkling Eden Hazard.

Heineken Champions Cup Round Two

Game of the Weekend: Leicester v Scarlets, Friday 7.45pm BT Sport 2

The Heineken Champions Cup started with a bang last week, Newcastle Falcons securing one of the biggest shocks in the tournament’s history by beating a Toulon side full of superstars.

Defending champions Leinster laid down a marker in Dublin with their hammering of Wasps. While Bath full-back Freddie Burns took the majority of the headlines when he inexplicably dropped the ball over the try line to hand Toulouse victory.

The game of round two has to be Leicester Tigers v Scarlets on Friday night. Both sides lost first time out, the Welsh region in especially agonising fashion against Racing 92 thanks to a late penalty try.

Tigers are struggling on the field and off this season, a home to defeat to last years semi-finalists will deepen the ill-feeling around the club, and effectively mean they are out of Europe after two games.

Channel 4 will be showing Munster v Gloucester live at 1pm on Saturday.

It is more a when rather than if Lewis Hamilton will secure his fifth driver’s championship, and it could be as soon as this weekend in Texas.

Sebastian Vettel in his Ferrari still have a chance, a small chance, but a Mercedes one, two will wrap it up for the Brit on Sunday.

Hamilton has won five of the six races on the Texan circuit, and it could be one of his last opportunities to secure another. Race organisers want to move the Grand Prix to Miami for 2020.

The NBA is back on Sky and the rest of the sporting weekend

The NBA has found a new home on Sky Sports, and includes games coming back to the O2 Arena in London. It all kicked off on Wednesday and there are games throughout the weekend, but any basketball fan will tell you nobody is touching Steph Curry’s Golden State Warriors this year.

If none of that tickles your fancy, The European Tour is in Spain this weekend and it is the final chance for golfers to secure their card for the next season.

The agony and ecstasy around the bubble in professional golf is unmatched in sport, but you only have to look to last week’s winner Eddie Pepperell to show how quickly it can all turn around.
