We are looking for a dynamic and eager journalist to work in our London newsroom as a junior mobile editor. Do you fit the bill?

Your Profile
- You may be new to journalism, but ideally will have some experience of writing news in a fast-paced online environment
- Excellent proofreading skills and an ability to self-edit are required
- You will understand the mobile digital world and will be interested in ‘the future of journalism’
- A strong ability to work to strict deadlines and perform detailed work, sometimes under the significant pressure of breaking news
- An NCTJ qualification is preferred, but not essential for the right candidate
- Knowledge of Samsung smartphones would be a bonus!
Your Role
- Find and curate the most ‘need-to-know’ news stories of the day
- Work with the UK Editor-in-Chief to establish the day’s agenda
- Write several short article summaries per shift, in upday’s house style
- Shift work — including weekends — is a requirement of the role
- Help develop and experiment across our social media channels
- Use a variety of tools to continually optimise our sources and reportage
