From the Town of Homes
Belmont is known as “the town of homes,” and I was asked recently to paint one of its better looking ones as a father’s day gift. This is the best version I did, and the neighbor who commissioned it thought so too.
It was a challenge to paint, and it took me a few tries to figure out why. I wasn’t getting the house’s signature feature — its white trim. Once I added that with an opaque paint, the painting really started to resonate. I used wet-on-wet to get various shades of color on the house and to create a soft foreground. I look forward to seeing this framed and hanging!
