UpHill raises €3.5M to guide clinical decisions and improve health care quality

I’m thrilled to announce our €3.5M ($4.1M) seed round, led by our friends at Brighteye Ventures and MustardSeedMAZE and with renewed commitments from our early supporters: Caixa Capital, Bynd, and Luz Saúde. Just one month after receiving an EU grant, we now accumulate a total of €4.5M in funds raised to reinforce our path to become the leading platform centralizing the best care and enabling its adoption.

A reminder of our purpose

After becoming physicians, we launched UpHill with a clear and challenging mission: to eliminate asymmetries in medical knowledge and improve care quality for patients, while empowering health teams to do more while at their best. Our journey since then has been far from smooth sailing. However, we have been fortunate to work with and learn from the most bright and devoted people striving to positively impact health care: everyone at UpHill, the team that makes this the ride of a lifetime (we’re hiring!).

Health care was then — and still is now — in the dark ages. Physicians are burned out with repetitive tasks, patients are lost in the tangles of care, payers are misaligning incentives, providers are stuck with old and outdated experiences, data is still locked in silos and, thus, there are still many barriers to apply the best care.

As we build the foundations for the future of health, I can assure you the focus on our mission is now more striking than ever.

UpHill: the pathway to the best care

Today, we are also launching 50+ clinical pathways — from diabetes to atrial fibrillation — to enable hospitals to improve outcomes and streamline care by applying evidence-based knowledge through stepwise pathways. UpHill works as a GPS for health care, providing real-time, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary guidance on which path should be followed by a particular patient. As a result, clinicians can easily improve compliance with best practices while increasing their productivity, organizations reduce unwarranted waste, and patients’ outcomes become more predictable.

UpHill is trusted by top-performing hospitals and worldwide pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis, Linde, or Pfizer, with ongoing projects in multiple European countries: Portugal, Netherlands, Greece, Sweden, Switzerland, and Norway. This new round will continue to support our international growth and will enable us to implement transforming advances in our product, making it more automated, integrated, and useful from a patient perspective too.
