Karen Burckhardt is a healthcare executive known for shaping strategy and translating vision into superior business results. She is passionate about creating innovative care delivery models that give patients more say in their care decisions and foster greater patient engagement. Karen has more than 20 years experience creating and executing strategies to enable insurance and healthcare organizations to successfully navigate and profitable grow in disruptive and rapidly changes environments.
Most recently Karen was Vice President of Strategy at JourneyCare, a hospice and palliative care agency in Chicago. In this role she developed strategies and programs to establish JourneyCare as the premier provider of integrated care management solutions for people with advanced illness. Prior to JourneyCare, Karen served as Head of Strategy at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. She guided its leadership team to define new approaches to delivering patient-centered oncology care and led a company-wide initiative to modernize all administrative and business support functions.
Karen also held leadership roles with Allstate Insurance in product development, corporate strategy and finance. Karen holds a Bachelors in Business Administration with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is a Certified Public Accountant. She lives in Arlington
Heights, Illinois with her husband, Rolf and three daughters.
