Easter is coming to Upland this Sunday and we have a big basket of challenges, prizes, and high stakes action planned! There will be Spark filled treasures, Easter themed hunts and eggs everywhere!
Grand Egg Drops
On Sunday April 4th we will kick things off with a challenge called the Grand Egg Drop.
There will be 4 waves of piñatas scattered across a different neighborhood in each of 4 cities, making a total of 16 batches of piñata drops! A clue, given to players in the Upland Discord will point to the right neighborhood containing 60 treasures.
- Wave 1: 10am (PT)
- Wave 2: 2pm
- Wave 3: 6pm
- Wave 4: 10pm
Each wave, in each city, will contain:
- One big bunny piñata
- 39 smaller pink egg piñatas
- 20 Spark Eggs ( a mix of big and small spark bonuses!)
There are 2 types of Spark Eggs
- The Golden Spark egg will contain 500UPX and award 0.1 Spark
- The Blue Spark egg will contain 250UPX and award 0.05 Spark
These special treasures will appear as treasure chests (not piñatas) that contain a small amount of UPX. We will record which ones were found by which players and assign additional Spark accordingly, once the Citizen Spark Drop occurs.
There will be two tiers to the Egg Drop challenge, one for Visitors, Uplanders and Pros, and another for Directors and Executives. Each tier will have its own leaderboard measuring how many treasures a player collects through the drops. The challenge will end at 1am PT on April 5th.
While there will be small UPX awards for the top players in each tier, those players will also receive a Limited Edition Easter Block Explorer!
Spark Egg Treasure Hunts
For Easter we are also super charging both the Standard and Competitive treasure hunts (activated from the Treasure lobby).
For Competitive hunts we will have a new Easter tier set up. In addition to having some holiday themed piñatas to find, about 10% of all treasures will be Spark eggs!
Treasures in this tier will recharge roughly every 6.5 minutes and the cooldown will be reduced to one hour. 10% of the Standard hunt prizes will also contain Spark eggs!
These hunt updates go live at 10am PT on April 4th and last for 48 hours.
Easter Scavenger Hunts
It’s time for another Scavenger Hunt! This is a unique event mechanism that allows players to complete clues in a race to win the grand prize, while collecting treasures along the way! 100% of registration fees are paid back in prizes. 50% towards the grand prize for the 1st person to complete each hunt, and the other 50% for treasures found along the way.
There are two versions of the hunt, one on each coast, covering different time zones, but you can compete in both!
- The SF Egg Hunt starts at 12pm PT (noon) on April 5th (Monday), and takes place in San Francisco.
- The NYC Egg Hunt starts 12 hours later at Midnight, and takes place in Manhattan.
- Note: If you plan on attending both, be aware that there are a limited number of airplane tickets from SF to NYC.
Registration
Registration is required to participate in this event, and there is a 2000 UPX registration fee.
Registration opens on April 3rd 9am PT and closes 2 days later on April 5th 9am PT.
In order to register, just visit the Treasures section of the menu and you’ll see the option to register.
Prizes
- The first place winner is the player who completes all 5 clues and collects all 5 treasures the fastest, and will receive 50% of all the registration fees for their tier as the grand prize, plus a 0.5 Spark bonus!
- There will be smaller Spark prizes awarded for 2nd-10th place in completing the hunt in each tier (0.3, 0.25, 0.20, 0.15, ect). Each player in the top 10 will also receive a Limited Edition Easter Explorer!
- Every player who completes the hunt will receive treasures amounting to roughly 50% of their registration fees (each player will get one piñata, which adds volatility, where some will win more than others).
How It Works
- After the event begins, there will be 5 clues pointing to 5 locations for each challenge.
- Every registered player will get an additional 10 sends, right before the event starts.
- While the competition will be a race, all players will have 24 hours to complete the hunts.
To see your clues, go to “Treasure” in the quick menu and select the challenge you registered for. - You must visit the property your current clue points to, in order to move onto the next clue.
- This process will repeat until you collect all 5 treasures at the locations the clues point to.
- Once you collect the treasure from the 5th location, you have completed the hunt!
- The first player to complete all 5 clues will win a grand prize. You’ll be able to see how you stack up in the hunt through a dedicated Challenge Board. Access the challenge board by clicking the trophy icon.
- You can still earn UPX by solving all the clues and completing the hunt within 24 hours of the event’s start time, but after that, the treasures will disappear.
