Thousands of women marched together, schools and libraries closed, and streets were crowded: this is an accurate depiction of Iceland on October \ 24th, 2023. Exactly 48 years after the “Women’s Day Off ” (or “Kvennafrí” in Icelandic) on October 24th, 1975, thousands of women across Iceland including Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdóttir — joined together in a strike to promote gender equality.
