We recently launched our community chat to help grow, support and nurture the decentralized identity community. It’s our goal to facilitate stimulating conversations, provide integration support and foster a growing network of self-sovereign individuals, so a future with decentralized identity is possible.
The Matrix technology stack can best be described as “An open network for secure, decentralized communication.” and Riot is the application interface we use to access the Matrix network.

After you’ve had a chance to introduce yourself uPort would love to hear about the project you’re working on. Self-sovereign identity can include everything from peer-to-peer KYC (know your customer) or decentralized login systems.
Decentralized Identity
Month after month we see identity breaches and hacks occurring from within centralized identity infrastructures. Let’s make safer, secure and more private decentralized systems to protect ourselves.
A Call To Action — Get Involved
As mentioned in the riot-webrepo, the Riot and Matrix integration is still under active development.
However, as of July 2016 this layering abstraction is broken due to rapid development on Riot forcing
matrix-react-sdkto move fast at the expense of maintaining a clear abstraction between the two.

Status.im also recently announced a $5,000,000 investment into the Riot/Matrix infrastructure.
uPort is excited to join larger community efforts in pushing open source forward. We will be contributing 💻 code and helping👢squash 🐛 bugs. The Matrix ecosystem has a bright future and we’re happy to be joining.
Our goal is to contribute to theriot-weband riot-matrix-sdk repos.
Maybe even do a uPort<=>Matrix integration 🤔
Friendly Reminder
uPort moving forward will move all communications to the Riot/Matrix Community Channel. Deprecating the Gitter and Telegram in favor of supporting decentralized chat room growth.
We’ve built bridges directly from our Blockchain Dev channel to the existing community channel.
But…if you currently using either Gitter and/or the Telegram channels be sure to join us at our new permanent home — uPort Community Channel.
