Flowers – they bloom, look aesthetically pleasing to the eye and smell nice. Despite their beauty, I find them strange and really complex to fully understand. They don’t even know where they’ll end up. They might be taken to joyous diversions, or find themselves at a sad funeral. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at flowers, explore their world and discover something that might change the way we see them.

- Here today, gone tomorrow;

Flowers are beautiful, but they don’t stick around for long. Their colour and scent fades away, and the petals get dried. It’s similar to when you look at a shooting star in the sky for just a moment before it disappears. They are here today but are gone tomorrow. So, do we really need to love them so much if they don’t last?

- Feelings wrapped in petals;

Flowers are often used to express our feelings. Red roses are considered a symbol of love and the white lilies show sympathy. But, do they have these feelings themselves or is it us putting our emotions onto them? Do we really need to use flowers to express ourselves?If we do, I’m sorry but all our feelings are scripted and hence, useless.

- The beauty business;

People spend a lot of money on flowers for special occasions. Consider a wedding place that’s decorated with flowers. And not only that, imagine the amount of different flowers that couples receive from the guests. Has this turned flowers into something to buy instead of something to appreciate? Maybe we’re missing the point of why they exist.

- Nature’s plan;

Flowers play a vital role in nature’s plan. They attract insects and birds that help plants grow. We usually only notice how pretty they look and smell. We miss out the fact that how important they are as they have a job assigned to them by nature. They are not only there to look pleasing.

- In a writer/lover’s life;

To both, they’re not only flowers. They are a writer’s muse and a lover’s fantasy. A writer sees flowers as a friend when their scent is absorbed by the letters they wrote to a special person. They even see them as an enemy, when the petals are dried in their beloved’s hand or when they get hurt by the thorns on the flowers. Lovers see it as a fantasy by imagining themselves dancing similar to how flowers dance together in the fields by the winds.

- Conclusion;

Flowers are indeed strange in many ways. They look nice but can also hurt you with their thorns. They are here one moment and gone the next. They don’t know their final destination. We use them to express our feelings, but maybe they don’t have feelings themselves. Instead of expressing love by GIVING flowers, I’d rather make different dyes from them and color all her dresses with it. Every time she would wear those dresses, it would remind me that it was only possible because of a flower. For me, artificial flowers are better to GIVE as at least they last!

This article has shown us that there's more to flowers than meets the eye.
