Writing is NOT for me!!
Writing, often glorified as an elegant dance of words, can be an uphill battle for many, myself included. The blank page stares back, a vast, empty canvas that’s demanding strokes of creativity that sometimes feel impossible. In this article, I’ll share my own struggles in generating ideas and nurturing creativity.
Imagine a writer’s mind as a blank canvas awaiting the first splash of inspiration. A blank, yet a vast landscape, demanding to be painted with words. It’s intimidating, isn’t it? This blank canvas is the embodiment of a writer’s block and we all face it at some point. It’s a challenge!
To illustrate this struggle, consider a writer’s block as a maze and ideas, as the several doors it has. It’s easier to get in through these doors but finding the right one is always a harder job. We must navigate through these confusing paths, searching for that elusive spark of inspiration to begin writing. I often find myself lost in this maze with every new idea that seems better than the one I already thought about. This results in confusion, making me indecisive about choosing the right topic, making me feel like writing is not for me.
Now, let’s address the issue of complexity. Writing doesn’t have to be an exercise in verbosity, it should be accessible and enjoyable. However, whenever I grab my pen, I begin thinking whether I should make it complex, or keep it simple? Where complexity can alienate readers and discourage writers, simplicity ruins the art and makes the craft boring. I try to write somewhere between complex and simple, making it interesting and enjoyable for my fellow readers.
The heart of this article is to resonate with fellow writers. You’re not alone in your creative struggles. We all experience moments when everything essential for writing seems to vanish. What’s important is to acknowledge these challenges and know that they are a part of a writer’s journey. Let me tell you something, this article was written by me to push myself and my fellow writers. The topic I chose today was "Friends" but I couldn’t write about that. (Maybe because I don’t have any😅).
In my own writing journey, I’ve found myself staring at blank pages, fidgeting with my pen, and even tearing pages that had complete writings of mine. The best way to overcome this is to embrace it. When you acknowledge your struggle, it becomes a stepping stone rather than a stumbling block.
To conclude, writing is not just about the destination–it’s about the journey. Find your way through the maze and keep writing simple, yet impactful. Above all, remember that your struggles are shared by countless others, including me.
Now I am sure that writing is not for me but I am for writing, and so are you! Keep writing, keep preserving and never let a temporary absence of ideas distract you from this creative path.
