One of the most important things you should learn in Adobe Creative Cloud products is how to utilize workspaces. The workspace is central to everything. It’s where you’re able to design and build your creative idea, from your inside your head, maybe sketched out on paper, and then into digital or print reality. You can only do this, though, if you understand how to navigate layered menus and manage the workspace and panels to support your design needs.

This tutorial is for Adobe InDesign 2020.

Most new learners will open the Adobe App and start clicking. They upload a project, immediately pull-down menus, click on icons, and try to move things around without any real flow.

That’s fine if you’re desperate to perform one design task and you don’t plan on using the program frequently, but if this is a tool that you’ll be using to support your career or hobby — stop — take a moment to understand the workspaces and how you can benefit from the presets or save a workspace that you spent time rearranging.
