Have you ever seen a digital or a magazine advertisement that instantly connected with your sense of vision and touch at the same time? You could mentally feel what a print or digital image felt like.
One famous design that conveys texture is the ‘Art is a Job’ poster created by Stefan Sagmeister for his studio.
With its use of die-cut, the image allows you to feel the layers beneath your fingers while looking at the design. This direct connection between sight and touch communicates to viewers in an instant how he feels about what he does for a living.
Have you ever interacted with design in a marketing campaign?
A great example of texture in advertising was an ad for an iPod Touch that featured sandpaper on the screen. It read “Touch Here,” allowing you to interact with the print advertisement.
