This Record Breaking Supercomputer is Set to Power Facebook’s “Metaverse”
Meta (Facebook) has just unveiled one of the fastest AI computers ever built. This powerhouse, called the Research SuperCluster (or RSC) is built specifically to power the massive amount of data needed to build the ‘Metaverse’, and has the most cutting edge technology available today. Mark Zuckerburg spared no expense for this project and clearly stated he wants to use this as the foundation in which his visionary virtual empire will be built upon.
The RSC boasts a whopping 6,080 graphics processing units packaged into 760 Nvidia A100 modules. This puts it right in league with the other worlds-fastest computers, but it does not end there. In the second phase of its development Meta is already planning to add an additional 16,000 GPUs this year, increasing its processing power by 2.5x and surpassing its competitors in computing power.
So what is this world-class supercomputer capable of, and how will it be utilized in the upcoming ‘Metaverse’?
