IMPACT CINEMA: Promoting and celebrating the art of storytelling, producing, and campaigning for social impact, with our youth and world in mind.

Today, we live in an increasingly digital world with incredible user-friendly tools to mobilize the masses. Hence, we have seen a steady rise in documentaries and videos producing impactful social change. At the center of it all, millennials and young people are now the most cause-centric generation yet.

Keeping all this in mind, we want to empower the next generation of change-makers by showing them that anyone can make a difference — so long as they have an idea as to what kind of change they want to see in the world.

We are accepting submissions to our film festival from December 1st to March 24th.

We created this festival to promote and celebrate the art of impact storytelling, producing, and campaigning for social impact with our youth and beyond.

We want to be the platform and venue that helps tell your story, that of your community, or something else that you are passionate about improving for the better.

So, are you in?

How to Submit your Film

After creating an account on UPTOGOOD.org, all entries must be submitted in the form of impact film campaigns that are 10 minutes or less in length. Posting your submission on the UPTOGOOD platform provides worldwide viewers the opportunity to easily share and interact with your video. For easy instructions and other FAQ, look no further than this link here or visit UPTOGOODImpactFilmFestival.org. We are accepting submissions to our film festival from December 1st to March 24th.

Active one, some, or all four Call to Action components on your campaign video!

Who is Eligible?

High school, college and film school students in the United States may apply. We will then curate and present the 8 best short films about social issues and actions we can take towards solving them — big and small!

We are looking for something inspiring, thought-provoking, and with actionable goals. Winning films are not only celebrated for their production value, but they are also considered for the social impact they can have.

And One More Thing…

We created this film festival because we believe in the power of inspiring change through storytelling. There’s something about that freedom — that trust between artist and audience that brings out the good in all of us. With the UPTOGOOD Impact Film Festival, we hope to attract audiences that feel the same way about doing something good in this world.

By submitting your film, you’re investing in building a loyal audience that you can continue to engage with on the UPTOGOOD.org platform. You’ll build a fan base that is invested in your voice as a filmmaker and an audience that is longing for a way to support you and the good you continue to do.

We wish you the best of luck with your submission! See you at the festival.

We are grateful for our early supporters

Who we Are

The film festival is a collaboration of UPTOGOOD and New Roads School.

UPTOGOOD is a video and storytelling platform for social impact and action where anyone can host an impact campaign around a video: a story that matters. UPTOGOOD provides immediate calls to actions along with the campaign video: the ability to crowdfund for a nonprofit, a storyteller and/or a social impact project, rally people behind a petition or a pledge, and share.

New Roads School is a college preparatory program in Santa Monica from which an authentically diverse student population, mirroring the rich diversity of Los Angeles, develops a personal dedication to learning, a respect for independent thinking, and an expanding curiousity about the world and its people. The school was founded in 1995 by Dr. Paul F. Cummins, Founder, President and CEO of the Coalition for Engaged Education / Co-Founder of Crossroads School, and Dr. David Bryan.
