Here at Uptree, we have 5 specialist areas: our founder, sales and partnerships, schools, content, and the technology specialists. Each team brings something essential to the table and only together are we able to carry out our mission to encourage talent and empower communities by connecting young people to professional experience.

As founder and CEO Tamsin works on our strategy, mission, values, and vision — the big-picture things. Broadly speaking, the sales and partnerships team manage and grow current partnerships while bringing in new ones and promoting our services and products. The schools team looks after all our partnered schools across the nation, meeting students face-to-face and delivering workshops, assemblies and more. The content team focuses on all the social media activity, student and partner newsletters, and ensures cross-platform themes and unity. The tech team works on writing code and updating our tech platform (www.uptree.co) for efficient and easy use for our students.

We are proud to be a diverse bunch of people in the Uptree family, from all sorts of backgrounds and with vastly different experiences. For instance Nancy Jones, our Sales & Partnerships Manager, was a Senior EU Exit Policy Advisor at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport before joining us here at Uptree. Kelly Norrington, Content Manager at Uptree, was a secondary school teacher of Philosophy before joining on. Tamsin Dewhurst, CEO and founder, was a secondary school teacher of Geography. At the risk of rambling on through each and every member of our Uptree family, we’ll stop there.

Though from diverse backgrounds and experiences, we are united in our belief and passion for the work that Uptree does. We all share the same heart for students and understanding of the disconnect between school and job opportunities. Although in varying ways, we have all experienced the difficulties of finding career opportunities and direction whilst at school and having no professional network. Richard Macfarlane, our Scotland-based Schools Outreach Officer, is the same. He says,

“I, like many of the kids, have no formal degree or qualifications. My inspiration was my dad who I saw work hard, through which I realised that we can all still achieve something. In that way, I think Uptree is the surrogate dad for many of these students.”

We hope you have enjoyed “meeting the team” this week through Instagram and LinkedIn, and learning more about our roots from CEO and founder Tamsin Dewhurst herself!
