Hello everyone! The past month has been a busy one for Urban Archive and we’re excited to share some recent updates.

There are new projects coming up for our team that are very exciting; we can’t give too much away but we’re hoping these will lead Urban Archive to new resources and other big projects going forward.

Something we can share however is our annual collaboration with the Municipal Arts Society on Jane’s Walk NYC. The event will be taking place the first weekend of May (5th-7th) and anyone can participate. With over 165 walks taking place this year, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn more about the city and maybe meet a new friend. Learn more about the event and sign-up at their site!

Our partners at the Historic Districts Council have recently completed their Six to Celebrate series! Head over to our app to check it out; they’ve created a list for nearly every neighborhood, district, and cultural enclave in NYC.

As always, we are continuing to work on our previous endeavors that we’ve been sharing. Most prominently, UA 2.0 (a total update of our web app) is coming along and we’re excited for all that it will bring. One of our main goals for the update is to create a smoother user experience for our users and partners alike by updating the design, placing more focus on the images, and expanding the abilities of our backend.

We’re also hard at work curating images for the LinkNYC Kiosks. While we don’t have a date yet, we are hoping to get that back up and running ASAP and will of course keep the community updated so you can keep an eye out for our archive on the city streets!

Some reminders:

  • Follow our social channels and join us on Instagram for UA Weekly Trivia every Friday.
  • Don’t forget that you can send in submissions to the Queens Name Explorer.
