Hello again! Now that we’re a solid month and a half into the year, we’re excited to share more updates about what we’ve been up to.

So far, we’ve secured 64.3% of our funding for the entirety of 2023. While that’s an excellent start, we still need to close that gap in the coming months so we’re partnering with a new grant writer to ensure we stay on top of our budget. Have a project that we could work on together? Contact us here.

Yesterday (Valentine’s Day), we made a special post with images submitted by our community members. You can see that now on our social channels. Let us know if you’d like to see more community posts like this in the future!

Submitted by Bob Davis, “Mom and Dad.
George and Kay Davis in Central Park on their honeymoon,” 1943.

We’re also happy to report that the Queens Name Explorer is looking better than ever. Our partners at Queens Public Library are in the final stages of updating many of the named locations across the borough! They’re also finalizing an FAQ page to further improve the user experience and our Development team is always improving the site to keep things running smoothly.

Currently, you can check out several stories featured for Black History Month which highlight significant figures who came from or worked in Queens.

Some other updates:

  • As a precursor to UA 2.0, we’re currently testing some updates to the iOS app so you can look forward to that in the near future.
  • We’re considering expanding our social media efforts into new types of content and posts (follow us to stay tuned).
  • We’ve been in contact with some potential new partners and hope to be expanding into a new city in the coming months.
