A couple of days ago I read an interesting little story here on Medium by Regina L. Miller. It was about an app that could make sure you never miss a bus. I had just had the same thought about two weeks ago when I was running late and was a mere couple of feet away from the bus as it sped past me leaving me in the dust filled with despair (maybe I exaggerated a bit). Anyways I was thinking of possible ways to create such an app/system to allow you to stop a bus within a certain amount of feet and I came up with a REVOLUTIONARY IDEA! Ok maybe not revolutionary but perhaps a new way of creating a solution to a common problem which plagues the urban space.
What if we could crowd-source an app/system for the bus idea? We have thousands of creative and industirous people hooked on the internet. We have programmers, designers, engineers and writers who could band together and potentially create this system or solve other urban problems instead of creating one for yourself to start into your own company. Could we possibly set aside our monetary goals and create apps/public systems for the common good which could benefit the urban environment? It would be interesting to see.
Feel free to share this and expand on it and if you want hit me up on twitter to discuss!
