Jeremy Wallace

Jeremy Wallace is currently an associate professor at Cornell University, and leading lead Cornell’s China’s Cities research group. His research Studies authoritarianism, urbanization, and information, with a focus on Chinese politics. He is the author of “Cities and Stability: Urbanization, Redistribution, and Regime Survival in China”, and numerous articles in various journals, such as British Journal of Political Science, and China Quarterly. His new book, “Seeking Truth and Hiding Facts: Information, Ideology, and Authoritarian Rule in China”,explores how and why authoritarian regimes rule as they do, integrating information, interests, and repression.

In Urban China Forum 2019, Professor Jeremy Wallace will share his recent research “ Cities for Whom? Beijing’s 2017 Demolitions in Context”.
