Ya Ping Wang

Ya Ping Wang is Chair Professor in Global City Futures and Director of the GCRF Centre for Sustainable, Healthy and Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods (SHLC) at University of Glasgow. His research focusses on housing, urban development and rural to urban migration in China. Ya Ping is the author of Urban Poverty, Housing and Social Change in China (Routledge), co-author of Planning and Housing in the Rapidly Urbanising World (Routledge), as well as Housing Policy and Practice in China (Macmillan). He recently led two major UK-China collaborative projects on urban transformation (with CASS and Nankai University). Currently, Ya Ping is PI for the UKRI funded GCRF project — SHLC, which has eight partners and over 50 researchers from Africa, Asia (including China) and the UK. Ya Ping is Fellow of Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS).

In Urban China Forum 2019, Professor Ya Ping Wang will share his recent research “ Urbanization and Housing Conditions and Access”.
