At UrbanFootprint, we believe our work and the products we build can have a great impact on the world. We are thrilled when others see that same potential. That’s why we’re honored to have won Fast Company’s Innovation by Design award in the “Impact” category.

Since 2012, the Innovation by Design awards have honored designers and businesses tackling the problems of today and tomorrow. Every year, a panel of judges selects the winners (this year from more than 4,000 submissions) across a range of categories, with the common thread of innovation and a vision towards solving some of the world’s toughest challenges. Past winners of the Innovation by Design award have included Uber (in the first year of the competition) for disrupting the experience of ride-hailing, and BioLite Campstove, for creating a portable device for turning biomass into a heat source.

Being selected for this award, specifically in the Impact category, means even more to us because it reflects our values as a company. Through our technology, we strive to help make the world more sustainable and equitable. In the face of the COVID-19 crisis, we’ve learned that our data and analytics can help improve the response of those working to mitigate the impact of the ongoing pandemic.

As a part of our Urban Intelligence Platform, we’ve created solutions for public agencies and frontline workers to better respond, adapt, and utilize resources. We provide near-daily updates on pandemic-related factors, such as unemployment, eviction risk, foreclosure risk, food insecurity, and other relief needs. And we’re currently working with partners in several states to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most. To be recognized for this work is a great honor.

We are committed to innovation, and continue to develop solutions that help organizations address the most important challenges facing the world today:

Our platform provides clear answers to these challenges—where to invest, where to deploy resources, and with new threats and changing markets, where to optimize for risk, profit, and community — but our work does not stop there. We look forward to continued partnerships with those tackling the world’s biggest challenges, and we’ll do our best to equip them to build a more efficient, equitable, and resilient future.
