Heading to Citadel tomorrow? Our very own Sophia Bonner has some tips for who she expects to set the capital alight.

After missing Citadel 2017 with headliners Foals, I was determined to attend this year, which includes a very special UK appearance from none other than Australian sensation Tame Impala.

Very rare is there a chance to see this band live over here on the other side of the world so there is no wonder why there is such a huge hype around tomorrow’s day festival.

Not only that, but there are a multi-talented, diverse array of talented bands and artists accompanying the Aussies in Gunnersbury Park throughout the day with my highlights including:

The Howl and the Hum

This York based band are a four-piece with a gripping, big-band sound that allows them to be compared to the likes of Massive Attack. With charisma from lead singer Sam Griffiths hit with moving melodic lyrics the band are set to play a heated set including popular tracks such as ‘Godmanchester Chinese Bridge’.

The Howl and the Hum — Godmanchester Chinese Bridge

Time: 2:40–3:10

Stage: Communion

Goat Girl

All-female London-based band Goat Girl remind us why women-lead bands really are worth all the time in the world. The rock/grunge-esque sound from their debut album — an album about the realities of life in the UK’s capital— make the band one of my highly recommended to see.

The four-piece really are doing bits in the indie scene and will put on a powerful show for all.

Time: 3:20–3:50

Stage: Clash & Last.fm

Matt Maltese

The rising star from Reading is set to grace the stage calm and collectedly as always. Following the release of his debut album just over a month ago Matt can only go from strength to strength with his touching songs about politics and love… and even some political love songs.

His charm is infectious and his sarcastic undertone as he narrates his sets is too funny to miss. Catch Matt in all his glory, playing tracks from one of the best albums of 2018 so far.

Time: 3:30–4:00

Stage: DIY at Kopparberg Outsider

Isaac Gracie

Gracie’s wholesome, graceful voice is sweetly indulging. The emotion Isaac uses on stage as he belts out his ballads is beautiful to watch as someone so timid off stage comes alive in their music.

Last term, URY’s Michael Parr was lucky enough to chat to Isaac about his debut album, and you can listen to that here.

Time: 5:30–6:00

Stage: Communion

Our Girl

Three best friends and angelic talents come together to form an amazing band. The Brighton-trio create a perfect tranquil vibe to chill out to as the day gets closer to the headline set from Tame Impala.

Our Girl — I Really Like It

Time: 6:30–7:00

Stage: DIY at Kopparberg Outsider

Tame Impala

Of course, the highlight of the whole event. A band like this need no introduction as their groovy, psychedelic melodies mixed with some comedic but serious lyrics sung by iconic frontman Kevin Parker have, over the years, made Tame Impala one of Australia’s most successful bands.

High-points of the set will obviously include ‘The Less I Know The Better’ and ‘Let It Happen’, with my personal favourites being ‘Eventually’ and ‘Keep on Lying’.

It will be my first time seeing the band, and most likely the first for a lot of the crowd as the last time the band played over here in the UK was over 2 years ago. Tame Impala really do know how to put on an amazing set, with their visuals making their shows more of an experience than just any of gig — last minute tickets are still available for what will be an unforgettable summer gig in London:

Time: 8:50–10:20

Stage: Main stage
