Here’s our weekly roundup of some of the last week’s hottest new music.

Whip — 2 Chainz ft. Travis Scott

Featured on 2 Chainz’ latest album, RAP OR GO TO THE LEAGUE, ‘Whip’ sees the rapper collaborate with Travis Scott, a duo who have worked together on numerous previous occasions. The fourteen-track album, which is available to stream and purchase now, features Scott as one of many big-name artists that appear alongside 2 Chainz. If you take a listen to the full release, keep an ear out for Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, Chance the Rapper, Young Thug, and Lil Wayne, to name a few.

Candy Factor — Dutch Tulips

Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Dutch Tulips are a four-piece rock and roll band. If you like what you hear in this latest release, then keep an eye out for the band’s new record in May of this year.

Ride Out In The Country — Yola

Yolanda Quartey, known as Yola, is a British country-soul singer. She has previously performed with acts such as Massive Attack and her own band Phantom Limb. This is the second single taken from her debut album, Walking Through Fire, which has been produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.

Down Side Of Up — Jack Gray

This is the latest track by nineteen-year-old indie musician Jack Gray, and comes off the back of his success with his 2017 track ‘Red Rental Car’ (the track has garnered over one million plays on Spotify). He describes his music as alt-pop, fusing organic sounds and electronic instruments. Gray spent most of 2018 touring around the US with Dean Lewis, and is playing many sold out shows over the next few months.

Ten Tonnes — Lucy

Twenty-one-year-old singer-songwriter Ethan Barnett, better known as Ten Tonnes, is preparing to release his debut record, and unleash his talent in a full-length release. The album, which is set for a release in the first few days of May, will feature this single, ‘Lucy’, a track that Barnett first released in 2016, but has only just debuted as a single.

Peer Pressure — James Bay ft. Julia Michaels

English singer-songwriter James Bay collaborates with Julia Michaels on this latest release, ‘Peer Pressure’. This is Bay’s first music to drop since his 2018 LP, Electric Light, and sees him enlist Michaels—a singer-songwriter from the States who has penned tracks for the likes of Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Shawn Mendez—in a song that builds in arena-commanding energy.

Driving in Circles — Chateau Chateau

Chateau Chateau began as a four-piece playing in an aerospace hanger in Tuscon, Arizona, before the full six-piece band we see today assembled at the beginning of 2018. ‘Driving in Circles’ is taken from their upcoming eponymous EP, due for release this year. They have said it “describes those youthful days when just getting in the car with your friends and going for a drive was enough to be happy.”

RPG — Kehlani ft. 6LACK

Released late last month, ‘RPG’ is the seventh track on Kehlani’s third album, While We Wait. Kehlani wrote the track with 6LACK, and the two singers assume the roles of lovers in an insecure relationship, allowing for Kehlani to explore and question her past relationship experiences.

Forever Is Now — TAMSYN

TAMSYN are a Manchester-based five-piece making indie rock with a new-wave and Britpop edge—picture The Smiths joining up with The Libertines and The 1975. ‘Forever Is Now’ is the group’s latest single and dropped last Friday, following on from a handful of tracks that the band have released over the past couple of years. It’s a catchy and nostalgic song — this group is one to watch.

Tel Aviv — The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse are another five-piece group, but they hail from Belgium, aiming to make feel-good indie-pop tracks with a danceable flair. They currently have over one million streams on Spotify. ‘Tel Aviv’ is the band’s latest single and was released last Wednesday, following on from their previous release, ‘Catch Fire’. A debut EP may be on the horizon for this group, so keep on the lookout.
