Top 10 New Tracks
Take a listen to, and read about, some of the last week’s hottest new releases, carefully picked by our Digital Librarian team.
Fear Of Flying — Feeder
‘Fear of Flying’ is the first single from Feeder’s forthcoming, and tenth, studio album, Tallulah. The album, which is set for release on the 9th of August this year, will likely cater to multiple generations. Although the band formed in 1994, they have been drawing attention from a younger generation, too, with the release of their The Best Of Feeder album in 2017 seeing some chart success.
About the album, frontman and guitarist Grant Nicholas has said to expect a ‘classic Feeder record’ with tracks that don’t rely heavily upon production and have a stripped-back feel.
No Place Like Me — Molly Hammar ft. Big Narstie
Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, RnB artist Molly Hammar first found fame on a talent show in her home country. This is her first release since her 2018 EP, Sex, and is paving the way for a new EP later this year.
Hear Hammar’s sensual vocal delivery, as it is paired with the grime influence of MC and TV personality Big Narstie, below.
Gorgeous — Slowthai
This new release from Northampton rapper Slowthai is taken from his highly anticipated upcoming debut LP, Nothing Great About Britain. His previous release, ‘Peace Of Mind’, also made our Top 10 upon its arrival — this is one of the up-and-coming artists in this week’s list that is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Chill — Bakar
This new release comes from London-born alternative rapper Bakar. ‘Chill’ is an intoxicating track, showcasing Bakar’s indie/punk influences and his effortless energy. He has announced a UK tour in May this year, featuring dates in Leeds and Newcastle, and will also appear at All Points East and Reading & Leeds festivals this summer.
Anxiety — Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes
This is the new single from punk group Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, taken from their upcoming LP, End Of Suffering, which is due for release on the 3rd of May this year. ‘Anxiety’ is a song about personal struggle, released alongside the group’s #abetterplaceforyouandme initiative with CALM. As Frank says: “Whatever life is throwing at you right now, it will pass. Choose to let it hit you, or duck and watch it fly past much faster and off into your history, of which there have been many obstacles thrown your way and you have overcome them all.”
Friends Go — Maggie Lindemann
This new release from rising 20-year-old pop star Maggie Lindemann, who established herself as one of the most exciting new stars in the genre with her 2016 viral hit ‘Pretty Girl’, sees her experiment with new sounds. The track is drenched in a neo-ska aesthetic, which we might be able to expect from her upcoming debut studio LP (set for release later this year).
Patience — Tame Impala
‘Patience’ is Tame Impala’s (or, more accurately, Kevin Parker’s) first new release since his critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated, and RIAA Certified-Gold LP Currents in 2015. ‘Patience’ is heavily inspired by 70s disco and 90s house, and features a catchy funk beat.
Lose Our Heads — YONAKA
This latest release from English rock quartet YONAKA is taken from their upcoming debut LP, Don’t Wait ’Til Tomorrow, which will also feature the singles ‘Bad Company’ and ‘Creature’. YONAKA combine heavy riffs with melodic choruses, and the two conspire to create some anthemic pop-punk, the kind of music which has seen them compared to bands such as Royal Blood and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Thrash Metal Cassette — Dinosaur Pile-Up
This is the latest release from Leeds-based alternative rock/post-grunge trio Dinosaur Pile-Up, who are best known for their 2015 powerhouse of a hit ‘11:11’. ‘Thrash Metal Cassette’ is taken from the groups upcoming new LP, entitled Celebrity Mansions, which is set to drop on the 7th of June.
It’s a typical, high-energy and playful track with a raw edge, and showcases the band’s unique twist on their 90s alternative rock influences, particularly the groups Weezer and Deftones.
Sensation — Talisco
Talisco, real name Jerome Amandi, is a French multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. ‘Sensation’ is taken from his latest album, Kings and Fools, which dropped last Friday, and features his signature, catchy blend of folk and electronic pop. Talisco is playing over 100 gigs this year, across Europe and America, including at SXSW Festival this summer.
