Top 10 New Tracks
Term is over, but that doesn’t mean the end of our Top Tens. Here are some of the best singles from the last seven days to kick off your week.
Hit Your Heart — Dagny & Steve Aoki
This is the new single from Norwegian pop star Dagny, who broke out last year with her international hit ‘Drink About’, which has just over 80 million streams on Spotify. Dagny teams up with American EDM legend and producer Steve Aoki on this new track, and it is sure to be another hit in the making for the pair.
TIME — Alesso
‘TIME’ is taken from EDM producer and DJ Alesso’s new EP: Progresso. Alesso, real name Alessandro Lindblad, is a Swedish DJ who has worked with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, and Usher. His best known single is 2017 mega-hit ‘Let Me Go’ with Florida Georgia Line, which has almost 600 million streams on Spotify.
Streatham — Dave
The new Dave album, Psychodrama, has the rare achievement of holding 97% on Metacritic, the highest ever score for a new album since Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly in 2015. Not bad for a debut full-length release! On this track, Dave reminisces about his childhood growing up in Streatham.
Higher — Swales
This Daft Punk-esque dance track samples ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’, blending it into a funky club anthem that wouldn’t be out of place on Daft Punk’s 2001 album Discovery. This is the first single by up-and-coming Manchester DJ Swales, who is known for his sampling and shaping of disco melodies.
Take Your Jacket — Hot Milk
Hot Milk are a power-pop emo group hailing from Manchester, England. ‘Take Your Jacket’ is the band’s second single, following on from ‘Awful Ever After’ which dropped earlier this year. The band make pop music for people who want more of an edge to their sound, crafting “sad songs littered with angst and happy melodies.”
Upside Down — Holy Moly & The Crackers
Holy Moly & The Crackers are a six-piece rock group based in Manchester. They make riotous party music, with heaps of indie and folk rock added for good measure. ‘Upside Down’ is the group’s second single this year, after their previous single, ‘All I’ve Got Is You’, made our list back in January. This young group is one to watch.
Something You Love — Kiefer Sutherland
‘Something You Love’ is the new single from Kiefer Sutherland, his second this year after the release of ‘This Is How It’s Done’. Sutherland is primarily known as an actor— the star of 80s classics Stand By Me and The Lost Boys, as well as the American T.V show 24. He started a music career with the release of his acclaimed debut LP, Down In A Hole, back in 2016. ‘Something You Love’ will appear on his upcoming second LP, Reckless and Me.
Translation — Younghusband
‘Translation’ is the latest release from UK indie outfit Younghusband; it’s their first new material since their 2015 LP Dissolver. ‘Translation’ is a catchy and dreamy track, and is expected to appear on the groups long-awaited new LP, which is expected to be released in the near future.
Sidelines — Wallows
‘Sidelines’ is the new single from American indie rock trio Wallows, who consist of childhood friends Braeden Lemasters, Dylan Minnette, and Cole Preston. ‘Sidelines’ is taken from the group’s upcoming LP, Nothing Happens, which is set for release on the 22nd of March.
When We Were Young — Flawes
‘When We Were Young’ is the latest release from British alt-pop trio Flawes, coming off the back of their February single ‘Don’t Count Me Out’, which also made our top 10. ‘When We Were Young’ is a nostalgic track with new wave and 80s influences. It was produced by L.A producer Drew Pearson (who has worked with the likes of Kesha, Galantis, and Kygo).
