He examines the federal immigration and the border security. There was many challenges for people who called the borderlands their home. The academic treatments can also be inaccessible to many people, the lack of a personal connecting and the emotional impact that the memoirs can provide. In this book the memoir allows the author to share his personal experiences and reflections on the human stories behind the border issue. The personal touch of the empathy to the narrative. It is important to realize that the memoir is limited to the authors perspective and may not get the full complexity of the border situation.
