In August, the web team here at the USA TODAY NETWORK was invited back to speak at Google’s Polymer Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The next generation of the USA TODAY NETWORK’s web framework is based on modular web components that make up a design system. On the dev side, we utilize Polymer as a way to standardize and streamline building web components. On the design side, we are building a new system for defining and organizing our building blocks.

Our talk covered how this new modular approach led our design team to set up a new way of working, and how our dev team organizes to make the most effective use of individual developer strengths.
