Day 1: 90 days toward $10k MRR (launching a productized service)

What could be achieved if you just stop making excuses and stop waiting for success to come, but rather go out and chase it?
It’s time to start getting serious about building a real service that provides enormous value to its clients, while being scalable and enjoyable.
What I’m going to do:
Go from $0 to $10k MRR in 90 days by building a service that helps businesses sell their product/service to other businesses through LinkedIn outreach. Essentially this will be business development as a service.
Why I’m going to do it:
I want to push myself to do something that I’ve been so hesitant to do for a while. I’m going to document it in front of everyone (you; if you’re reading this) as a form of accountability.
I really don’t expect many people to be reading this, but appreciate anyone who does take time out of their day to do so.
A bit about my current situation:
I work in the digital marketing space, mainly managing PPC for local service-based businesses and franchises. I’ve started a handful of businesses both in digital marketing (agency) and ecom (mainly FBA).
I want to start a business that isn’t reliant on my being there. Much of my side work right now is reliant on me doing the actual job. My goal here is to build a real scalable business.
For me to achieve this I’ll have to change:
- The way I spend my “free” time
- My attitude (plug PMA)
- The amount of time I spend selling
Day #1 (I guess?)
Disclosure: I already accomplished some things: had a logo designed, site built and Gsuite setup. All the typical “OK, I started…and now I’m already unsure if this is what I want to do” tasks.
To elaborate on the above…
site: Usehoneybee.com
Had my go-to freelancer handle this for me. It’ll serve its purpose for now, but once I can get some cash-flow I’ll start considering redoing it.

Came up with a basic logo idea and had it done by the same freelancer who handles my web work. In the future I’ll be using something like Russ Perry’s service at: https://designpickle.com OR Robin Vander Heyden’s https://manypixels.co/
email: nick@usehoneybee.com
https://gsuite.google.com — Obviously. It’s just too convenient.
Feel free to email me and pick my brain… or maybe let me pick yours.
Let’s call today (7/12/18) the real first day
What I did today:
- Created goals/vision for Honeybee and how we’ll (we = morally supportive girlfriend who edited this post + myself… for now) get there
- Created a list of verticals I want to target
- Created deliverables that are both valuable (to the customer) and trackable
- Started planning this Medium series
- Started writing my first blog post
- My day job (this is everyday)
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post where I’ll share the above items and more.
