Elon Musk Is A Marketing Genius
Elon Musk reminds me of Steve Jobs. No, not as an innovator, technologist, or businessman. But as a marketing genius.
He doesn’t spend millions on traditional advertising, yet Tesla, for example, is arguably the most talked-about car brand on the planet.
How does he do it?
Tweetstorms and memes
If there’s one thing we can collectively agree about Elon is that he tweets a lot. Like a lot. Even before he acquired Twitter.
Musk doesn’t release traditional bland press releases; he tweets. He engages in meme wars on Twitter which turns into opportunities for engagement.
He loved Twitter so much that he decided to buy the company for an astounding $44 billion. That’s funny considering the company is worth less than $20 billion today. That’s more than 50% drop in a year.
His tweets sent the price of Dogecoin skyrocketing, multiple times. This shows his ability even to influence markets through social media. However, this didn’t exactly turn out well for him as the SEC sued Musk for insider trading, allegedly.
Musk knows the power of personal branding and he leverages it to his own advantage. This is 21st-century thinking at its finest.
