You probably hear a lot of “Twitter is dying” or “Twitter is dead” since Elon Musk acquired the controversial social media platform in October 2022.

But I have a strong feeling that this time, it’s serious.

Advertising boycott might be the nail in the coffin.

Even Musk himself said that this boycott could kill the company.

Twitter or X lost millions of potential revenue when companies like Disney, IBM, and Apple canceled their paid advertising campaigns.

From a company perspective, why would you put out ads in the platform full of antisemitism and misinformation?

They have to boycott or their customers would boycott them.

While I appreciate Elon Musk’s advocacy to fight for freedom of speech and the pursuit of truth, I believe there has to be a line that needs drawn.

Because this is chaos.

According to The Economist, Twitter is vulnerable to an ad boycott. Twitter needs its advertisers. That makes more than 80% of their revenue.

Earlier this July, Elon also said Twitter already lost half its advertising revenue down compared last year.

Now imagine how much they would’ve lost more with this boycott.
