Numbers you shouldn’t count (but we did): the real Utrust story

You’d expect a list to begin at 1, but that just seemed boring and predictable. We want to keep you guys on your toes. Also, this is the most important one. There are three babies on the way at Utrust. How could we possibly start anywhere else? They’re babies — the second cutest creature (after puppies, of course).

1 (actually, 26).

We thought we may just not do “1” at all. If you can’t tell by now, this list is not going to be chronological. However, we’re not THAT rebellious. We’re responsible. We’re having 3 babies after all, so we have to at least act like grown-ups. So, ‘1’ is the exact number of times someone from Utrust spoke in Singapore this year. Or Japan. Or Switzerland. We’ve been all over the world. We’ve spoken at, or attended, 26 different events in 10 different countries. In 2020 the only events that will get us out of the office will have to do with merchants!

384

Boom. We just went from 1 to 384. You’d think a fintech company would know how to count.

WRONG.

I mean… We do.

384 is the number of chocolate bars we have destroyed at the Utrust offices in 2019. That’s more than one a day, between dark chocolate (192), white chocolate (92) and milk chocolate (96). Yes, it is interesting that we eat more dark chocolate. We can’t explain it either.

And yes, the math doesn’t add up. 192 + 92 + 96 is not 384. That’s because we actually ate 96 bars of white chocolate, not 92. We were testing you. Did you pass?

63

Oh, we’re actually counting backwards now, are we? 63 is the biggest (and scariest) number you’ll see today. It’s the total amount of days we’ve spent on calls in 2019. That’s 1505 hours, or 90300 minutes. Can you imagine spending that much time on meetings? Good thing we’re a team. For 2020, we’re considering handing off a part of this work to the babies.

4800

These are how many Bitcoins it costs to send a lambo to the moon. Approximately.

24

This is the number in kilograms of coffee people at our offices drank in 2019! Doesn’t sound like a lot, does it? I mean, we are insufferable coffee fiends. That’s because we also consumed 4800 coffee capsules on top of that. That’s the real 4800 in this list. We don’t know how many bitcoins it would cost to send a lambo to the moon. How would anyone know that?

6

The number of numbers we numbered before numbering numbers began to feel tiresome.

175

This is the last one, we promise. We wanted to finish with a hat-tip to you, our lovely Utrust community. It’s thanks to you that we have managed to make a success out of ourselves, and 175% is the increase in Twitter engagement rate we’ve had this year. It’s brilliant, you’re brilliant, and we’d like to send a big thank you in your direction. All 75K of you.

In Conclusion

Each day, we analyze countless amounts of data. Data that, you guessed it — isn’t what you’d call “fun” to analyze. We believe in play just as much as we do in work, and that’s where the idea for this list came from.

Now, we want to hear from you: drop one of your favorite little-known numbers from last year below.
