Baglamukhi Temple History:

According to the ancients, In Satya Yuga a heavy storm started harming mother earth. Lord Vishnu was tensed and went to Lord Shiva to get a solution. Lord Shiva advised him to take help from ‘Goddess Shakti’.

Hence Lord Vishnu performed austerities to please Goddess Parvati at the boundary of Haridra Sarovar the lake of turmeric. Impressed by the devotion of Lord Vishnu the Goddess arose from the lake of turmeric in the form of Goddess Baglamukhi. Mata Baglamukhi calmed the storm, restoring peace in the universe.

It is furthermore said that The Baglamukhi Temple was built in the Dwaparyug by the Pandavas during ‘Agyatvas’. The Pandavas built the Temple in one night. Bhima and Arjuna worshipped Goddess Baglamukhi to get blessings and power from The Deity.

Baglamukhi Temple Significance:

According to Hindu Puranas, Lord Rama on the advice of Lord Hanuman worshipped Mata Baglamukhi to get victory from Ravana. It is said that the worship of Goddess Baglamukhi reduces the ability of the enemies and makes them helpless too. By worshipping Maa Baglamukhi one can attain power, get prosperity in business, win court cases, and solve family problems.

Baglamukhi Devi protects worshippers from evil spirits and enemies. The Goddess is also called Pitambara Devi and Brahmastra Roopini. The Baglamukhi Temple holds particular importance for people who believe in Tantra and Mantra as it is believed that chanting the Baglamukhi Mantra here can provide miraculous effects. Baglamukhi Temple Architecture:

Baglamukhi Temple features a distinct dome-shaped roof supported by pillars. The temple is painted in yellow color and has unique architecture and intricate carvings and sculptures on the walls and pillars. The Prasad for devotees is also yellow colored i.e. besan ladoo.

The Shakti Peetha is adorned with yellow/golden ornaments. Lord Bhairava and Lord Hanuman idols are placed before the main shrine of the Goddess. The Shivlinga is also established in the Temple. After taking blessings from Maa Baglamukhi, followers offer water to Lord Shiva. Furthermore, the Temple houses idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Durga.

Baglamukhi Temple Puja and Festivals:

Different types of Pujas are performed in the temple like Nav-Graha Puja, Vak-Siddhi Puja, Havan, etc. The Temple is famous for fire sacrifices that take place every day. Havana is performed to please the Goddess continuously at the Temple. The havan performed at night is considered significant as it is believed that it brings results in just 36 days. There are 136 kinds of havan and ceremonies performed in the Temple.

Several festivals are celebrated in the Baglamukhi Temple. The most popular festivals celebrated in the temple are Navratri, Diwali, and Dussehra. During these festivals, the temple is decorated with flowers and lights. People from all over the world visit the Baglamukhi Temple to seek divine blessings from the Goddess.

Darshan Timings for Maa Baglamukhi Temple Kangra are from 05:00 am to 09:30 pm. The temple is closed from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
