Utsource Update: Best Mosfet Products for audio amplifier

Today’s ever-growing market of the Electronics Industry is expanding to a greater extent and there has always been a special aspect of the Audio amplifiers in this industry, and for the amplification purpose, we often use Transistors for our circuit requirement.

We can use a different type of Transistors like we can use conventional BJTs (Bipolar Junction Transistors) like NPN or PNP type or we can use a special type of transistor MOSFETs (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor).Now in this article, we are going to discuss different MOSFETs which are used in different audio amplifier circuits and their detailed specifications.

What is a MOSFET?

A metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET, MOS-FET, or MOSFET) is a field-effect transistor (FET with an insulated gate) where the voltage determines the conductivity of this Transistor. It is mainly used for switching or amplifying signals. The ability to change conductivity with the amount of applied voltage can be used for amplifying or switching electronic signals. MOSFETs are now even more common than BJTs (bipolar junction transistors) in digital and analog circuits and it is widely used in audio amplifier circuits.

The two main type of MOSFETs

There are mainly two types of MOSFETs available based on the manufacturing process and the available channels in the MOSFETs, these are Depletion type MOSFETs and Enhancement type MOSFETs.

1. Depletion Type MOSFET

The transistor requires the Gate-Source voltage (V GS ) to switch the device to the OFF mode. The depletion-mode MOSFET is equivalent to a Normally Closed switch and it does the same operation.

2. Enhancement Type MOSFET

The transistor requires a Gate-Source voltage (V GS ) to switch the device to ON mode. The enhancement-mode MOSFET is equivalent to a Normally Open switch and it does the same operation.

Now we will discuss some best MOSFETs available in the market for the use of audio amplifiers.

1. 2SK2221

The 2SK2221 is a special type of MOSFETs which is used mainly in audio amplification devices and it is also used for the Low-Frequency Power Amplifier Circuits.

There is some complementary MOSFETs of this like 2SJ351, 2SJ352 which also shows same type of properties and also gives the same effect upon using in the circuit

As discussed already above that the 2SJ352 is a complementary device to the 2SK2221 and all the characteristics as shown by 2SK2221 is almost same in the 2SJ352 and also it can be used as a good audio amplifier for the Low-frequency amplifier circuits.

V. It has Gate to source voltage rating as -200 V.

3. 2SK215

This is a special type of MOSFET which is used for High frequency and low-frequency power amplifiers and it is also used for high-speed switching.There are also some good alternatives available for the 2SK215, these are 2SJ76, 2SJ77, 2SJ78 and 2SJ79.
