Uses of VN10KM N-Channel MOSFET:

VN10KM is an N-Channel enhancement mode MOSFET with three pins that are Gate, Source and Drain. It is an enhancement mode MOSFET which means when there is no voltage at gate it will be off and to turn it ON a voltage transition at gate pin would be required. VN10KM N-Channel enhancement mode MOSFET can be used in various applications like motor drives, switches, converters etc.

In below figures a practical use of VN10KM MOSFET is illustrated. In figure 3 VN10KM is used in a broadband amplifier circuit. This circuit of broadband amplifier is good for low noise amplification between 150 to 6500 KHz frequency whereas, VN10KM is used as a gain device.

Another use of VN10KM N-Channel enhancement mode MOSFET is shown in figure 4. The circuit in figure 4 is used in cameras to trigger electronic shutter of the camera when a flash of lighting is present.

Working of VN10KM MOSFET:

VN10KM MOSFET is an N-Channel enhancement mode type transistor which is a voltage controlled device and has different working in various ways from BJT and other types of FET. Although, it has three pins namely Source, Gate and Drain but internally all its three pins are isolated which differs from other transistors.

Furthermore, VN10KM requires a positive voltage and above threshold voltage at its gate pin to turn it ON completely. Being an enhancement mode type MOSFET it requires a gate to source voltage to switch the device ON and is similar to Normally Open switch.

The three different working regions are cut-off, ohmic and saturation region. When there is zero voltage at gate no flow of current take place between drain and source this region is known as cut-off region. When voltage starts to apply at gate terminal at very low voltages the behavior of transistor is linear at the beginning which is the ohmic region of transistor. When gate voltages cross its threshold voltage and slightly above, the transistor achieve its saturation region.

2D Model of VN10KM:

The 2D Model of VN10KM N-Channel MOSFET is illustrated in below figure 5. All dimensions shown in figure 5 are in millimeters.
