Dear UTU Guardians of Trust!

We are excited to announce today a brand new collaboration between UTU and Maple — joining forces to transform access to trusted decentralized financial services.

UTU offers AI-powered decentralized Trust Infrastructure as a Service to serve socially powered recommendations and provide a robust feedback mechanism via API and Oracle to B2B and P2P platforms. We believe UTU’s trust infrastructure is the perfect complement to the innovative work being done by Maple to develop DeFi native bonds. Their vision echoes our own and much of the work envisioned in our Enabling DeFi Concept Note. Our protocol layer also tokenizes trust in our effort to tackle the economic incentives around better digital trust as our AI solves for better theory and mechanism to deliver that trust.

Maple provides a platform for the creation of DeFi bond pools which invest in tokenized corporate bonds. The platform combines a low cost and capital efficient way for corporates to borrow, along with a fixed income asset management solution for liquidity providers. Maple’s bond pools are structured to offer professional management, diversification and passive yield to liquidity providers. Pool Managers can establish and manage bond pools to share in income earned through the platform.

“We’re excited by the potential of UTU’s Trust Infrastructure to power credit ratings for DeFi native bonds on Maple’s platform. Innovation in risk scoring will open up an opportunity for more companies to harness capital efficient borrowing needed for growth,” — Maple Co-Founder and CEO Sid Powell

About UTU

At UTU we believe in a more human-friendly internet. We are pioneering digital models of decentralized trust built around human beings and how we naturally trust. UTU’s vision is to become the trust infrastructure of the entire internet, replacing anonymous star ratings, reviews, and scores as the de facto trust mechanisms of our digital lives. We do this in service of our Mission — To bridge the gap between how we trust in real life and how we are asked to trust online — to make the internet a safer, more trusted place to gather, share, work, and trade.

UTU is kiswahili for “Humanity.” It reminds us of our home in Kenya and for whom we build this project. We currently have a team of 40 at our HQ in Nairobi and R&D collaborations with the Agents, Interactions, and Complexity Group at the University of Southampton in the UK as well as the newly established UKRI Trusted Autonomous Systems Hub.

UTU and our subsidiaries have been featured variously in international media, including Pitchbook, NPR, TechCrunch, Analytics India, Aithority, Disrupt Africa, How We Made it in Africa, and others. We won the 2019 East Africa Regional Championship of the Pegasus Tech Ventures Startup World Cup and have been named a 2020 Hello Tomorrow Deep Tech Pioneer.

Check us out on the Web, Twitter, and join us on Telegram in decentralizing the future of digital trust.
