UTU and NEAR Kenya Partner to Deploy Trust Infrastructure on NEAR Protocol
UTU and NEAR Kenya have partnered to bring UTU trust infrastructure services to NEAR Protocol for dApp integration and a more seamless user experience.

We are excited to announce that we’ve partnered with NEAR Kenya to deploy UTU’s trust infrastructure on NEAR Protocol for dApps to easily integrate the services and users access the feedback and reputation mechanism.
What is NEAR Protocol?
NEAR Protocol (NEAR) is a sharded, proof-of-stake, layer-one blockchain that is simple to use, secure and scalable. NEAR hosts an ecosystem of applications, infrastructure and support built by an ever-expanding network of developers, entrepreneurs and creatives.
NEAR Kenya is the Regional Hub representing NEAR Protocol in Africa. Working closely with the regional blockchain community, NEAR Kenya is committed to providing an easy on ramp and entry point for Web3 talent, in order to develop a thriving innovation ecosystem across Africa.
NEAR Kenya works in partnership with NEAR, to catalyse ecosystem innovation through grant funding, blockchain education and developer community support.
How will we work together?
First, we will deploy the UTU Trust infrastructure services on NEAR Protocol so dApps built on the NEAR chain can easily integrate these services. This means that users of these dApps will be able to safely and confidently Connect, Send, Swap, Stake, and Borrow across web3 through NEAR.
Secondly, NEAR users will easily access UTU’s feedback and reputation mechanisms, and also be rewarded in UTU Coin. By developing an UTU Trust Token (UTT) “satellite” smart contract on NEAR Aurora, we will enable users to acquire UTT by providing feedback and making on-chain staked endorsements natively on NEAR. Users can then be rewarded in $UTU for their UTT earnings directly.
Thirdly, we are also excited to have been awarded a grant through the NEAR Kenya Regional Hub, to kick off this development and complete the NEAR ecosystem deployment. We are honoured to qualify for this grant as it is a huge mark of confidence on our work to increase trust across web3. We will use this grant, working together with NEAR to continue to build the UTU Protocol in the most accurate way possible.
Over the longer term, UTU and NEAR Kenya may collaborate on other initiatives including:
- Integrating UTU into the NEAR Wallet to help users safely and confidently navigate the NEAR ecosystem of dApps.
- Availing UTU’s Trust, Creditworthiness and MPESA APIs on NEAR on-chain via oracle
